OOh what a ride Deanna! Lovedddd going through this. You're right about Never Say Never. I met my current partner of 2 years at a time I was sure I didn't want to be with anyone. And the universe must have scoffed and said, "well, what the hell do you know!"

Deanna, first, thank you for the mention. I love how we found each other here.

Second, your story is mainly different from ALL the others because you moved to Jamaica for yourself, not for a man. What you and I have done is fairly rare.

Having lived there as a single white woman, I could write a whole novel on how it is to be a single foreigner on that island πŸ˜‚ I'm not saying I didn't have fun either, but I didn't take on a "partner" at all.

God do I have stories about the gigolo lifestyle in that country lol. It's fascinating and intriguing to me how it all works.

I'm happy this worked out for you though. You're a smart woman laying it all out up front, just as I used to do. Those men need it spelled out right down to the letter πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

You're most welcome for the mention, Kristi, and I, too love that we found each other here! Such divine connection πŸ’œ

Upon further reflection on your comment, yes, you bring up an excellent point that many women move here because of a man and you and I not doing so does make our story unique. I get lots of questions from tourists about how I came here and how I'm able to stay and to be honest, I always make sure to tell them that I moved here by myself and before I met my husband. Now that I think about it, they are usually very surprised to hear that!

And the gigolo lifestyle lol 🀣 Totally a thing here but not so much in Portland. Negril, however, is a different story all together in that respect! 🀣🀣

I have found that being upfront works well for me in general in this life but especially here in Jamaica!! πŸ‡―πŸ‡²βœŒοΈ Give thanks as always for reading, commenting, and being here with me. You rock! ⭐️

Maybe the government pays those Negril men to be gigolos so tourism stays strong πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ The island thrives on repeat travelers.

Nice. That's pretty much how I ended up married for the first and only time, it was the last thing I was looking for. Congrats!

"And one way that love wants to come out is in the form of being a wife again. I have happily eaten my words that I shouted to the rooftops when I first came to Jamaica: β€œI will do a lot of things in this life, but the one thing I will NEVER do is get married again…especially to a Jamaican man!”

I’ll end this story with one more cliche: never say never."

It's funny how it works that we often find things significant in our lives when we aren't even looking, right Lorraine? Thanks for the congrats and same to you πŸ€—β€οΈ And I love the quote that you pulled out from my post, lol 🀣 such a great lesson I have learned from this experience! I am much more mindful of my words and thoughts at this stage of the game! πŸ˜‰ Thanks so much for being here and for your support...I appreciate you! πŸ’•

Agreed Deanna. On a Hallmark Channel show I recently saw something I began to do for my birthday that just passed May 25th. When blowing out the candles, the wish I make now is for a "nice surprise." That's all!
